High Strength: 2024 alloy offers high strength, particularly in comparison to other aluminum alloys. Heat-Treatable: It is a heat-treatable alloy, allowing for the improvement of mechanical properties through heat treatment processes. Good Fatigue Resistance: 2024 aluminum has good fatigue resistance, making it suitable for applications subjected to cyclic loading. Limited Corrosion Resistance: While it provides reasonable corrosion resistance, it is not as corrosion-resistant as some other aluminum alloys. It is often clad with a thin layer of high-purity aluminum (pure aluminum) to improve corrosion resistance. |
