Aluminum alloy 2011 is a free-machining grade of aluminum with excellent machinability, high mechanical strength, and good corrosion resistance.
Mechanical Properties: |
---|
Tensile Strength:48,000 psi (331 MPa) Yield Strength:41,000 psi (283 MPa) Elongation:16% |
Physical Properties: |
Density: 2.78 g/cm³ (0.100 lb/in³) Melting Range: 500°C-643°C (932°F-1190°F) |
Typical Uses: |
Screw machine products Free machining parts Fasteners Automotive components Electrical components |
Welding: |
2011 is not generally recommended for welding due to its high copper content, which makes it susceptible to hot cracking. However, it can be welded using certain techniques such as inert gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) or metal inert gas welding (MIG) with proper precautions. |
