Marine applications (boat hulls, shipbuilding) | Architecture and construction | Automotive components | Cooking utensils | Electrical appliances | General sheet metal work |
Welding: |
Alloy 5052 is readily weldable using standard methods such as gas, electric, resistance, and spot welding. |
Corrosion Resistance: |
5052 has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. It is also resistant to saltwater, making it a common choice for applications in coastal regions. |
Considerations |
Alloy 5052 is known for its good formability, high fatigue strength, and above-average machinability. It is often used in situations where anodizing or other coatings are applied. |

H32: Strain-hardened and stabilized. The work-hardening rate is moderate, and the product has medium strength.
H34: Strain-hardened and stabilized. Similar to H32 but with higher strength.
H36: Strain-hardened and stabilized. Higher strength than both H32 and H34, but with reduced formability.
H38: Strain-hardened and stabilized. The highest strength in the 5052 series, but with the lowest formability.
O: Fully annealed, soft condition with the lowest strength. Excellent workability for deep drawing or spinning.
