5754 Aluminium Sheet

Aluminum alloy 5754 is a non-heat-treatable alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. It is commonly used in applications where corrosion resistance and durability are crucial.

Mechanical Properties:
Tensile Strength: 42,000 psi (290 MPa)
Yield Strength: 23,000 psi (160 MPa)
Elongation: 13%
Physical Properties:
Density: 2.68 g/cm³ (0.0975 lb/in³)
Melting Range: 570°C-640°C (1058°F-1184°F)
Typical Uses:
Shipbuilding
Vehicle bodies
Flooring applications
Architectural panels
Welded structures
Storage tanks
Welding:
5754 is readily weldable using standard methods such as gas, electric, resistance, and spot welding. It has good weldability and retains good strength in the welded condition.
Corrosion Resistance:
5754 has excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments. It is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and exhibits good performance in corrosive conditions.

H22: Strain-hardened and partially annealed. The work-hardening rate is moderate, and the product has medium strength.

H111: Fully annealed, with a slightly lower strength than H22. This temper is often used for applications that do not require additional strain hardening.

Alloy 5754 Composition:

Aluminum (Al): 95.7%
Magnesium (Mg): 2.6%-3.6%
Iron (Fe): 0.40%
Copper (Cu): 0.10%
Manganese (Mn): 0.50%
Chromium (Cr): 0.30%
Silicon (Si): 0.40%
Zinc (Zn): 0.20%
Others: 0.05% (each) 0.15% (total)

Considerations: 5754 is often chosen for applications where a combination of strength, formability, and corrosion resistance is required. It is not heat-treatable but gains strength through strain hardening.
